When you read the term “Genesis” in context with a Bible study, you assume we are discussing the first book of the Old Testament. In this instance, we are referencing Phil Collin’s old rock band.
Genesis had a hit song in 1980 called, “Misunderstanding.” We are borrowing a line from that song to describe what we’ll discover as we Investigate Jesus in the 8th chapter of Mark. The disciples understood the significance of Jesus healing a deaf man and a blind man. But they had what “must be a misunderstanding” about what Jesus wanted them to comprehend from feeding the 4,000* and the Transfiguration. (*That’s not a typo. There are two stories in Mark about Jesus feeding great multitudes.)
We’ll clear up all the misunderstandings we can get to in the 30 minutes we have tonight. We’ll provide sandwiches, chips, and drinks for you starting at 5:30pm. The lesson begins at 6pm sharp!
